State Inspectorate for Supervision of Non-Food Products and Consumer Protection

The State Inspectorate for Supervision of Non-Food Products and Consumer Protection is an administrative authority responsible for implementing the policy in the field of consumer protection and carrying out state control over compliance with the provisions of the legislation in this field, as well as state control over the compliance of products and/or services placed on the market with the prescribed or declared requirements and compliance with the provisions of normative acts in the field of legal metrology, the norms and rules for conducting trade activities.

How can it help you

The Inspectorate has the mission of implementing policy and strategies in the field of consumer protection, as well as supervising compliance with regulatory acts in the respective field within the limits of the assigned powers.

Activities

In order to achieve its mission, the Inspectorate has the following basic duties:

  • market surveillance regarding the compliance of non-food products, introduced or made available on the market, with the applicable essential requirements, as well as the control of the compliance of the services provided, including tourism, with the prescribed and/or declared requirements, including by carrying out control, on behalf of the state, at all stages of the life cycle of the product or the provision of the service
  • metrological supervision of compliance by legal entities and/or individuals with the provisions of legislative acts and other normative acts in the field of legal metrology
  • state control regarding compliance with the norms and rules for conducting trade activities and compliance with the legislation on occupational safety and health
  • activities regarding the protection of the economic interests of consumers
  • informing and educating citizens regarding their rights as consumers
